What is Claims?
Claims is a quick card game for 2 to 7 players, played with a standard 52-card deck. Everyone starts each round with 5 cards, and the goal is simple: keep your hand total as low as you can. Each turn you burn heavy cards onto the pile and pick one up, from the deck or from the card the last player threw away.
From your second turn of a round, when your hand adds up to 10 or less, you can claim. Everyone shows their cards. If nobody is at or below you, you score nothing and everyone else adds their hand. If anyone is as low as you, it costs you 50 for each of them. Knowing when to claim, and when to wait one more turn, is the whole game.
How a turn works
- Burn: put one card on the pile, or several of the same rank at once, like three Kings. Cards of different ranks never go together, and there are no runs.
- Draw: take one card, blind from the deck or the card the previous player just burned. You can never take back the card you burned yourself.
- Claim: from your second turn of a round, with a total of 10 or less, you can claim instead of playing. Everyone shows their hand.
Play free, no download
- Free, in your browser: nothing to download. It runs on any phone, tablet or computer.
- Friends or strangers: share a table link with friends, or get a seat in seconds with quick play. Bots take empty seats, so nobody waits.
- Like an app: add it to your home screen, and practise against bots even offline.
New to it? The guided first round teaches you the game in about two minutes, with a coach for every move. If you know Least Count, Yaniv or Jhyap, you already know most of it.
